Various Artists - Hand Out - Chapter Four

So far, AMAM has released two full-length compilations and three EP “Chapters” in the Hand Out series. Now the story continues with Chapter Four, likewise mixing familiar faces from the AMAM roster along with promising up-and-coming producers.

Swiss newcomer Adva steps up with the first statement, a coy but compelling groove aptly titled “Quietly”, following his handful of tracks released as Adva Productions. Then the new project from Italian producer Alessandro Izzo, Lisandor, descends with the loose-jointed, dew-covered “Flexible”, featuring a suitably pliable synth to deliver some melody atop the tech-house beat. Taking a turn into icy electro turf, London/Stockholm duo Matheus Komar and Mathias Hinds a.k.a. Umani offer the ominous “Signals”, sounding like a laser-cut glacier.

Then Mikael Stavostrand returns to AMAM, bringing fellow Los Angeles resident Roy E Gamble with him, for the collaborative “Habitat One”, a house track bursting with classic analogue sounds. Sardinia’s 000 follows this year’s Borders of Limbo EP with “Trk8”, showing his majestic and gliding approach to tech-house. Then Manchester producer Anton Fitz contributes the choppy “Saeyes No”, a frenetic and kinetic cut that could serve as a top-notch DJ tool. Finally, Forest People from Bosnia and Herzegovina deliver the longest and deepest moment, the melancholic but fierce workout “Downshifing”, a chilling conclusion to this diverse AMAM label transmission.
